A natural Ceylon sapphire of vivid blue, cut as a smooth oval cabochon. At 9.040 ct it is a large stone, evenly coloured, with stable colour; the trade would call the colour royal blue.
This stone has been heated. Bellerophon Gemlab records indications of heating and notes no other treatment. Heating is the long-established, permanent treatment used on most sapphire; we state it plainly so that the price reflects it.
As with most cabochon sapphire, natural inclusions and fine fissures are visible within the dome and show in the photograph. The polished surface brings out depth of colour rather than sparkle.
Mined at Téja's own pit at Horaketiya, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, and cut in Sri Lanka.
Bellerophon Gemlab, Paris, has identified it as a natural sapphire of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) provenance in vivid blue, with indications of heating, report no. C02075, dated 19 June 2026, and notes that it may be called "Royal Blue" in the trade. The report, with a 360° video, can be verified at bellerophongemlab.com.
Suited to a bold ring, a signet or a pendant. Available to view in Colombo by appointment. Further images and video on request via WhatsApp.
